Easter Projects & Display

post by Katie

Unfortunately I didn't get around to posting a piece of furniture this week, but I thought I would share a few of the Easter projects I worked on for the Cottage, and our display.

I made this burlap Easter banner, using the Cricut to make stencils for the letter and bunnies...

I recently found these little guys at a garage sale...

I also found these bunnies at the same garage sale, but they were all colorful, I just primed and spray painted them white.  They are allot more subtle now, easy to add just a touch of Easter to your home rather than going all out with pastels everywhere that don't match your decor.

I've had these frames in my stash for awhile, I just cut out the bunny and chic silhouettes with the Cricut.

How cute is this burlap, bunny, runner my sister made...

Another banner using the Cricut...

Chalkboards are a great way to add seasonal and holiday touches without buying something new for every one...

I made the design for this Easter hunt sign and the little yellow plate using the Cricut.  The sign was an old sign that just wouldn't sell.

Here it is before...

Add a few faux eggs and nests and you have simple touches of Easter in your home...

Thanks for stoppin' by the blog, come and see our Easter at the Cottage, we would love to see you!

Product Highlight:Paper Straws...so Fun

I thought I would throw in a post here and there with Product highlights.  Different items we have at the Cottage, and ideas on how to use or display them.

The first product I would like to highlight is our new retro paper straws.  Have you seen these?  Its a really fun trend right now.

I used them for the first time at my daughters Pink Lemonade Party this summer(I'm going to post about it sometime, cause it turned out super cute).

I think they are going to become a party staple at our house.  I love to plan a theme party.  When I went to order them for my other daughters "Mickey, Minnie" party...
I thought "we need these at the Cottage", so I found them in bulk and placed an order.
I thought I would offer a few more useful ideas for them other than just for drinks.  They are a cheap cute way to add color to a themed kids(or not kids) birthday party, but you can also use them for Holidays, weddings or showers, they would also make a great favor to give away.

I love em with the little flags...

You can also fill them with candy powder and make your own pixie sticks.  They are super cute as the stick in cake pops and other desserts.

Need more inspiration?  check out Pinterest, it's endless there.

If you can't make it to the Cottage, Amazon offers a great variety, and so does Etsy.

Thanks so much for stoppin'

Cottage White Antique Cupboard

I found this piece on Craigslist, and instantly fell in love the minute I saw it, while trying to keep my cool so I could bargain.  I've never seen anything like it.  It was in great shape, aside from the scratched surface.  I really would have liked to have left something in the original wood, but it was just too rough.  I don't know allot about the era of pieces of furniture.  If I had to guess I would say around the 40's, but I really have no Idea.  It sat for a little while, waiting for inspiration, but in the end Cottage White won out, because of all the details it already had.

I think it would make a great craft cupboard, or maybe in a baby's room.  It's at the Cottage for whatever purpose you need it for.

Here it is before...

And after...

I decided to leave the handles in their original state, I like the contrast.

Ahhh all those details...

Thanks for stoppin'

New Accessories at the Cottage

Most of our accessories and home decor items consist of found items, mostly one of a kind, because we usually add our own touches.  Each of us are constantly treasure hunting.  Garage and estate sales being our number one place to hunt, but it's not quite garage sale season around here and things can start look a little sparse.

Furniture just doesn't seem do as well empty and sad, so we decided to place a few wholesale orders.  My point being we have lots of fun new home decor accessories at the Cottage and I wanted to show them off a little.  the picture above is just a sample.

But before I get to the new stuff, I wanted to give a shout out to something that was found and embellished.  Cause I think it's so awesome.  Shannon just brought this new chair.

She used an actual coffee sac to cover the seat, how cool it that?  She said she kept finding coffee beans.

I just love it.  If your interested It's at the Cottage as I speak, but I have a feeling it won't last long.

Ok now on to the new accessories.

I'll start our with our new industrial lighting...

Cage Pendents with Edison bulbs, which we also have for sale.

Super adorable little birds nests, and faux eggs, I'm sure we'll be adding these to our Easter displays.

A few of  the eggs had to come home with me.

Spools of ruler ribbon...

The Marquee arrow...I'm just loving arrows right now.

Some new metal scoops, and wooden totes...

Fun banners...

Little metal clips...

Enamel coffee, tea, and sugar canisters...

Paper mache' globe orbs...

Cute little @...

Sets of dice...

Key hole plaques, would look great in a gallery wall

New big letter...also great for gallery walls...

Also, new clocks, lanterns, signs, even some chubby little sheep thrown in.

So if your in the area we would love to see you!  We are open every Friday and Saturday.

As always thanks so much for stoppin'
